Date: Thursday, October 10th 2024
Time: 7:00pm – 10:00pm
Interested D&D but don’t know how or where to start? Join us for a night at Curiosa where we’ll take you on an exciting adventure and teach you everything you need to know to play Dungeons and Dragons (5e), no experience needed!
You will embody an (almost) untested adventurer, unexpectedly thrust into the fray alongside your closest friends. The setting echoes the epic grandeur of Lord of the Rings and the legendary Forgotten Realms of Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, where every shadow may hold untold wonders or lurking danger.
Pre-created heroes, a set of dice, and all the tools you’ll need for your quest are provided. The session spans around three thrilling hours, with a brief pause midway to catch your breath before the next leg of the adventure.
In The Heroes of Heartsmeadow, You are a group of friends from the village of Heartsmeadow, a peaceful hamlet in a quiet corner of the world recovering from a great war. Last harvest season, goblins attacked. As the few fit and capable residents, you protected the village, fought off the goblins and drove them back into the Longshadow Woods. Some say the goblins had moved into the ruins of the old Scaleseer Temple in the forest and been driven mad by malevolent forces. More importantly, for now, they haven’t returned…
Host:
Kyle Duncan, He/Him, Pākehā
After a brief dalliance with tabletop roleplaying in his youth, Kyle began playing again in 2017 and has been running at least one game at any time since. Kyle’s games tend to be character and story-focused, without losing the delicious feeling of rolling a handful of dice now and then.
He is always excited to introduce new players, keeping things simple and getting quickly to the beautiful shenanigans of telling an adventure story together. Kyle always aims to host a safe and inclusive table, where everyone can participate and feel comfortable.
As well as being well-versed in Dungeons & Dragons (5e), Kyle also enjoys running other systems, particularly Powered by the Apocalypse games, like Monsterhearts and Urban Shadows, and his inner angsty teen still has a soft spot for the World of Darkness.
Kyle’s tables are LGBTQI+ and BIPOC friendly He uses the X-card and Lines & Veils safety tools, as well as an open door policy, which you can read more about here.
