Date: Thursday, October 17th 2024
Time: 7:30pm – 8:30pm
Join storyteller Brian Walsh, a specialist in Irish Folktales and Mythology, as he brings to life the eerie and enchanting world of Hags this Halloween season!
Hags are a kind of fairy-spirit, or sometimes goddess, often appearing as ancient and monstrous old women. They embody the powers of winter, darkness, change, and the life-taking side of nature, yet some also serve as sources of wisdom and power.
This performance of traditional Irish folktales will explore the diverse range of what a Hag can be—villainous and virtuous, mysterious, misunderstood, or monstrous. Whatever they are, they are certainly not all the same.
Prepare to be disturbed and delighted as Brian weaves these haunting tales that reveal the Hags in all their complex and compelling forms. Expect to be unnerved and enthralled by stories that capture the very essence of these enigmatic beings.
Content Warning: This event is not for young children or the faint of heart, recommended 13+.
