Instructor:
Angela Jervis-Read, Yoga Educator E-RYT.
Yoga helped me recover after breaking my spine in the 90s. The positive impact it had on my body, mind, and relationships inspired me to become a yoga teacher in 2000.
During my first decade of teaching, I lived in Costa Rica, serving as the Director of Wellness at Samasati Retreat Centre. Upon returning to Toronto, I established the yoga program at St. Michael’s Hospital and taught at The Yoga Sanctuary, Core Studio, and Equinox. Eventually, I opened my own yoga studio in Cabbagetown.
Over the past decade, I have been fortunate to travel the world, consulting and leading teacher training in Asia, South America, Central America, Europe, and Canada. My areas of expertise include Yin, Vinyasa, meditation, yoga philosophy, trauma-informed yoga, and both physical and energetic anatomy.
My forties were eventful, marked by a bout with breast cancer, a full hip replacement, and the loss of my father. Throughout these challenges, my yoga practice was a steadfast support, and I am pleased to say that I am back on my mat, deeply grateful for this second chance.
As a lifelong learner, I am currently studying to become a Somatic Movement Therapist. I love integrating the latest scientific research with my deeply rooted spiritual practices. My calling is to bridge Eastern and Western healing protocols, facilitating harmony within individuals and peace in our world.
A piece of advice that I echo daily in my heart is: all the limits you experience in this world are self-imposed. Expand your mind into the realm of possibility and live there—it’s better.
